Birthday Party Games for Kids - Simple, Cheap and Fun Ideas

When planning a children's birthday party, the cost is often the first consideration that comes to mind. But a fun party with lots of birthday party games needn't be an expensive one. Classic birthday party games that are cheap and simple can also be loads of fun.

"Candy and Toothpick Race" Birthday Party Game

This is classic among birthday party games for older children. Prior to the party, buy some toothpicks and a good supply of Lifesavers candy. Split the guests up into even teams - 4 or more players per team works best - and hand out one Lifesaver per team and one toothpick per player. Team members must stand in a line one behind the other, with the object being to pass a lifesaver from the front of the line to the back of the line and back again, via a toothpick held between each player's lips. If a team drops their Lifesaver they must start the race over again; the first team to pass their lifesaver up and back without dropping it is the winner of this challenging birthday party game.

"Balloon Jumping Relay" Birthday Party Game

When it comes to birthday party games, anything that involves balloons is fantastic. Set up this birthday party game by placing markers (buckets and pot-plants are good) about 10 meters away from the starting line, and blowing up plenty of balloons. Players split up into teams of 4 or more players, with one blown-up balloon being given to each team. Team members line up, and the first player has to put the balloon between his or her feet and jump all the way to the markers and back. If they burst or drop the balloon, they must return to the starting line, get another balloon if needed and try again. The first team to have all members complete one lap successfully is the winner of this fun birthday party game.

75th Birthday Party Games

By their 75th birthday many have reached most of the major life hallmarks but a list of 75th Birthday Party Games should point out that adventures are still to come for those who think young.

Often the 75-year-old is still very active and involved in community and personal development projects. For this reason a 75th birthday party for this crowd can still be relatively active. Music can be a lively solute to the Western Swing music or the early days of Rock-and-Roll. Skate boards are probably banned but Bingo, Mahjong or favorite card games could meet with fierce competition in this age group.

Invitations may be specific to both the 75th birthday and the game to be featured. For Instance a custom made printer friendly card could read,"" You are cordially invited to a 75th Birthday Party Poker Night"" and so on. Paper plates for the 75th birthday party could be matched with coordinating Poker or Bingo Party tablecloths to indicate the hybrid theme.

A card/birthday party is best supplied with the traditional finger sandwiches of ham, bologna, chicken or egg salad. Since it is also a birthday the cake and ice cream or lactose free frozen yogurt alternative are also expected. A diabetic fruit salad might also be a good idea with this age group on the guest list.

If the guest list is to be mixed with family and friends there is the possibility that young children will need to be entertained at the 75th birthday party. While the older adults are playing serious games of a more involved nature very young children may enjoy there own card games. Many examples exist but all time favorite children's card games of Gold Fish or Old Maid will take little effort to supervise. Also, make kid friendly adjustments to the menu as well.

Birthday Party Games For Teenagers

Does the idea of organizing birthday party games for your teenagers give you sleepless nights? Yes, birthdays are a very special occasion, No matter what age you are, a birthday party is something always greatly anticipated. It is a day filled with great food, a birthday cake, presents, balloons, and the party area decorated with streamers of the birthday boy's or girl's favorite colors. Everyone is in the mood to play some great games to entertain them. These are the games that YOU must find.

Great birthdays require birthday games that get every one up and having fun. Birthday party games for teenagers are a bit more difficult to find than ones for smaller children. Pin the tail on the donkey way excite the little ones, but a picky teenager doesn't want to look like a fool in a blindfold with his friends watching.

Yes, teenagers need their birthday party games to be a bit more grown up instead of little childish games that toddlers would enjoy. There isn't a teenager in the world who would want to mess up her hair and clothes on her birthday just to get an apple out of a tub of water with her teeth.

Some birthday party games for teenagers that they might actually enjoy would be games like Balloon War. This requires teams being divided up evenly. Each team has a certain color balloon for each member. Then they try to capture, or burst, the other teams' balloons. The one with the most balloons is the winner, or the least amount left is the loser. But always remember, there are no losers at a birthday party. Give both teams a prize just for playing along.

You can try doing charades also. This is a great birthday party game for teenagers and adults alike. Just use different pop culture words about things they might like to act out. The important thing to remember is to make it fun. Throw in funny ways to act out certain things.

You can always do relay races for the outside games. There are many choices among these types of games. Using eggs in a tea spoon and running to the finish line, while working your way through an obstacle course is always a good way to have some fun at a birthday party for teenagers. You can also use balloons between two people and have them both run the course. It's always harder when you add another player into the mix.

Whatever birthday party games you choose for your teenagers, remember to make it fun for them and always give out some kind of prize. Teenagers don't like to do anything if they aren't getting something for it.

Basketball Party Games - Hoops and Scoops for Your Party

It may seem that if you are planning basketball party games, your games need all be outdoors, but as everyone knows, parties must be planned with contingencies for the possibility that the party could be forced indoors. One option, should you wish to plan a basketball party is to arrange to have the party at an outdoor street ball court, or arrange to have the party at a local indoor basketball court. Should you need to move your party indoors, if you have scouted out the area for a public indoor court, you can always move indoors in the case of inclement weather, so have a contingency plan.

Basketball Indoor Party Games

Now, if you plan to have your basketball party at your home, the options in case of unexpected weather problems are more limited, but not insurmountable. Just have an indoor area cleared with an indoor goal and nerf balls, and you should have built in basketball party games. Basketball party games of horse or free throw basketball party game competitions work well for prize opportunities as do games of basketball trivia and other sports related activities.

Basketball Party Activities

Be sure to have basketball party games for down time, so the guests will have an opportunity to cool down, and get ready to eat, open presents, or just get out of the sunshine. This is particularly important if the party is outdoors in hot weather. A shaded area or even a man made shade is imperative for really hot weather. Consider having blankets or heavy plastic spread out (stake them down if it is windy) and have coloring books or printed coloring sheets, sports trivia basketball party games handy, and as long as you have plenty of drinks and snacks handy, your basketball party games are sure to be a hit.

25th Birthday Party Games

The 25th Birthday Party Games should reflect that mid-point between youth and maturity. Many of the guests will want to bring their children and spouse so this party is more likely to be one of the sedate family get-togethers than the wild parties that are thrown for younger people.

When this is the case, games can be chosen that will include parents and their likely very young children in a quality time manner that is of great value to working couples at the 25th birthday party. Games with simple rules and reasonable activity levels will best bridge this age gap.

Relays and sack races are among outdoor games that can involve father-son, mother-daughter or couples teams. Equipment is cheap enough since relays are usually just races in which simple objects are balanced and sack races incorporate burlap bags or other binding to secure one leg of one contestant to that of another, so you can save money at this 25th birthday party for important gifts. Presumably, they work together!

Carrying an egg in a spoon without dropping it is a classic example. The goal is to work quickly in teams without breaking the egg in the process of transporting it from one end of the course to the other where it is passed to the next team member. Themed parties can put a different spin on the objects and other factors that may tailor the game to special interests. Those who own orange trees, for example, may elect to balance oranges in two-liter bottles with the bottoms cut out. Those with rodeo horses may make this more of a barrel race. Everyone has a different spin that can make this simple concept more meaningful at your honored guest's big 25th birthday party.

Obviously inclement weather or apartment life can limit 25th birthday party games to those played indoors. The same idea applies: keep it simple. Try Bingo or simple card games that all enjoy.

Outdoor Party Games - Boring Title but Strangely Good Games

The summer is here and it's time to take our parties outside. In this article we'll give you some ideas for garden party games. All will require some preparation and you should start preparing these games at least a week before you need them.

We hope that you find these ideas useful, there are plenty of variations that can be made to each to take greater account of the age of the players and obviously, the more time and care taken in the making of the boards and targets, the longer they will last and the more years of enjoyment you can expect from them. They can also be added to with stalls like the coconut shy (the bigger the hoop the coconut sits in the harder it is to knock it off) and scaled up for use at small fetes and garden parties.

Don't forget, the games on their own are nothing without the right environment, plenty of bunting and other carnival type decoration - carnival posters describing the rules of each game and simple 'WIN WIN WIN' type artwork. If you have the time and are prepared for a little investment, you could make small fairground sideshow stalls, sloped sides and a back stapled, taped or tied to tall bamboo canes pushed into the ground. Across the front you could use wide tape to identify the throwing line etc. Karnival Tic Tac Toe Aim of the game: land three sponge balls in a row, diagonal or line within the target box.

The target box is divided into nine equal segments. To do this, select your target box - 14" square produces best result if using 3" diameter sponge balls, and cut this down to 4" or 5" height all round. To divide the box into segments cut four strips of card to the right length and height. Interlock these strips at just over 3" intervals and place the completed insert into the target box. To complete the box, give it slopped sides to keep the thrown balls inside the box.

Each player is given four 3" sponge balls and prizes are awarded for getting any three in a row, line or diagonal. The distance away from the target box is determined by the age of the players.

Karnival Clown Throw Ball Aim of the game: get 1 or more balls through the hole in the target board.

For the target board you will need a board, or multi-layered cardboard, in the ratio 3' wide and 4' high. Draw an outline of a clown making sure it has a wide mouth. Before painting the clown, cut a 7" whole for the mouth and this will be the target for the thrower. Try to make sure that the whole is central and about halfway up. If your artwork is not up to it, download a picture from the internet and scale it up.

Throwers stand about 6 or 7 feet away and are given three balls each. You can nominate to give prizes for one or more balls through the clown's mouth.

A variation on the clown throw ball is to draw your clown and cut three holes of different sizes but each allowing a ball of beanbag through. The holes are given values based on their size - smaller hole has higher value. Each player is given a number of balls or beanbags and prizes awarded for achieving a certain score when all of the balls/bags have been thrown.

Karnival Garden Darts Aim of the game: throw three darts into the bullseye of the target.

For the target you will need a stiff cardboard box at least 18" square on the side. It is advisable to reinforce the inside of the box which will become the target face and weight the bottom to prevent it falling over when struck. Paint the outside of the box in a plain colour and then paint an 18" diameter circle and inside that a 12" and then 6" circles to form the target.

Throwers can stand at a distance at least 5 feet from the target which can be tilted from the floor or raised up and prizes are awarded as you want. All dart games must be supervised by an adult.

Karnival Target Balloons Aim of the game: throw a dart to burst a balloon to claim the 'prize' identified on a tag behind.

The target board is commonly square in multiple of 6 ". The board is marked into 6" squares and at the intersection of each square a hook is inserted. The traditional carnival decoration is white board with red markings - use red adhesive electrical tape. On each hook is placed an identical tag which has the prize written on it (or left blank for losers). In front of this tag, attach a small inflated balloon.

Throwers stand at least 5 feet away from the board and when a balloon is burst, the prize is awarded in-line with the tag. Remove the tag and replace with one from a box of spares, place the balloon and next thrower steps up. All dart games must be supervised.

Karnival Lollipops Aim of the game: to pull a lollipop from the board with a marked stick. Prizes awarded according to the colour on the stick.

The board is actually a large(ish) cardboard box which is painted in a plain colour all round and then decorated as required. On the side of the box punch rows of holes say 5 holes across with 10 rows (50 holes). It is best to prepare two sides of the box in the same way. Buy boxes of cheap flat lollies and dip the tip of some into dye of paint. These are the winning lollies and prizes are awarded according to the colour. Load a random selection of lollies into both sides of the box - both marked and non marked.

Players pull a lolly from the selection and if it's marked then a prize is awarded. If it's unmarked no prize is awarded but the lolly is kept as a consolation. When a number of lollies have been taken, change the side and reload the holes away from 'prying eyes'.

Karnival costumes has a great range of party fancy dress and the perfect 'bunko' booth blazer - see our 'Through the Ages' section 1920's. This would make a great showman's jacket. Have a great party.

Fun Christmas Party Games

Have you decided to have a party to celebrate the holidays this year? Then you could benefit from this handy Christmas party game guide. There are games specifically so that children can have a grand time at parties and games where adults can enjoy themselves, too. Here are some game suggestions that are always crowd-pleasing:

Speedy Unwrapper: Take a series of boxes, small, medium and large. Wrap the smallest box the way you would wrap a regular gift. Place it inside the medium box. Wrap the medium box so that it's tougher to unwrap than the smaller one.

Now place the medium box down into the larger box. Wrap the larger box with layers of wrapping paper and use tough tape, like box tape or duct tape. Divide the party attendees into two groups.

Each member has exactly thirty seconds each to try and unwrap the box. At the end of the time limit, the team with the box or boxes that's most unwrapped wins. Make sure you have a prize for the winning team members.

Ornament Relay: This one has to be played outside or in a large room indoor (this one is great for any church Christmas parties). Divide the people into two even teams. Pick one person from each team to be the starter.

The starter has to pile his or her hands full of round, plastic Christmas balls and run to his or her team member to transfer the balls. The recipient then runs back to the home base (a large bucket or tin tub) to deposit the balls, then runs back.

The next person then has to run to the home base, gather all the balls and run back with them. Any balls that the runner accidentally losing must be recovered before he or she can continue on the race.

Ultimate Army Themed Games & Activities for Your Child's Birthday Party

Are you looking for the Ultimate Army Themed Party Games and Activities? Well stop looking because they are right here...

Good Luck and happy reading...

"Water Brigade" For their first high priority assignment, your unit must put out a fire that is destroying civilian crops! Divide the soldiers into two teams; line the teams up next to each other. Put a bucket full of water at the head of each line and give the first person in each line a large cup full of water. Place an empty bucket for each team about 35 ft away. Blow a whistle or say "GO!" the first person runs to the empty bucket, pours the water into it, and races back to their team with the empty cup. They should pass off the cup to the next teammate who fills the cup, runs to the bucket, pours the water in it and brings the cup back for the next player. When each team member has run down and back the game is over. To see which team has carried the most water down, insert sticks into each bucket and compare the water lines.

"Drill Sergeant Says" This is a simple game of Simon with a twist of Army. Next you are going to need a Drill Sergeant. Any volunteers? Oh yes, we have the honorary Mom and Dad. Try and dress up with a hat, sunglasses and shaved head. To play the game, the Drill Sergeant will give commands like: Drill Sergeant Says run for 10 seconds! You can have them respond with a Yes Drill Sergeant. If the Drill Sergeant didn't say "Drill Sergeant Says" and a few kids keep doing the commands, they have to go down for a few pushups. This really gives the kids the feel of Army-like drills!!

"Pack Up Relay" Find or borrow full size backpacks and things that would go inside (canteens, compass, pack of food, plate, etc). You will need one pack per team and one item per person. Have the teams line up with their pack. The first person must run to the pile of item #1 with the pack on, take the pack off, put the item into the pack, put the pack back on and run back to their team. Continue this until each child has picked up at least one item. The kids will love this game because they get to work as a team.

"Missing In Action (MIA)" Hide plastic Army Men outside and inform your soldiers that there are some fellows Soldiers Missing In Action. Send your soldiers out on a Top Secret Mission to locate and bring back as many plastic Army Men as they can find. You can keep score by how many they bring back.

"The Balloon Pop" This is a perfect game to get the kids to interact with each other more. Before the party, blow up a bunch of balloons and put a piece of paper inside that has different instructions, such as, "Do 10 Push-ups", "Run 2 Laps", "Do 15 Jumping Jacks", "Tell another soldier to do 15 Jumping Jacks", "Just got Promoted", etc. The kids will love the anticipation of popping a balloon and finding out what their orders are. Have fun and be creative.

"Rescue the Injured Soldier" Divide up the soldiers into two teams. Provide each team with a gurney (tarp or beach towel) and a roll of toilet paper. One person on the team will be the "Injured Soldier" and should be positioned about 40 yards from his teammates. When you say, "Go" the team runs across the yard to their injured soldier. They first wrap up the injured soldier in toilet paper, then transfer him to the gurney and finally transport him back to their starting position (I would suggest having one child hold a corner). This game is guaranteed to be loads of fun!

"Mine Field" Start out by placing a bunch of water balloons in the yard and blindfolding each soldier. Have them try and walk across the minefield without breaking any balloons.

"Grenade Toss" Before the party, construct some bean bags out of camo fabric and fill them up with rice. You could also purchase beanbags at your local party or fabric store. Place to cement blocks about 3 feet apart and place board on them. Next, setup of different types and sizes of pop bottles for the targets. Give the soldiers the beanbags and let them take aim. Try different distances to increase the difficulty.

"Water Grenade War" Begin by constructing two barricades for the children to hide behind (these can be made out of cardboard and spray painted for effect). Give the kids the balloons and watch the fun unfold before your eyes. Just remember, you can't have too many grenades!

"Obstacle Course" I would suggest placing this game last in your order of Birthday Party Games. This will be the most challenging and exciting. Here are few ideas on different obstacles you could incorporate into your Ultimate Course. Use a board as a plank to run across a water obstacle or between to cement blocks. Get some tires for the soldiers to step or run through. Use 5 gallon buckets with poles taped across for the soldiers to crawl under. Make some obstacles the soldiers can run and weave around, such as, garbage cans or buckets. Throw in some physical exercises like jumping jacks and pushups. While the soldiers are running through the obstacle, make sure you are acting just like a Drill Sergeant. There should be lots of yelling and encouragement. You could also be shooting a water gun at them or throwing water grenades. This should be the Ultimate game, so take your time designing the course and have fun!

Don't forget to check out the Ultimate Kid Birthday Parties website and submit your Kid Birthday Party ideas for a chance to win over $500 worth of prizes. The Grand Prize is a Sony Cybershot DSC-P93 Camera. Don't forget, because the contest ends 31 May 2005. Good Luck!!!

Preschool Party Games

Planning a birthday party for your preschooler? Party games are
a great way to keep young children entertained and engaged in the
party. Make sure every child gets a prize of some kind so child
every goes home a winner!

Bean in Your Shoe

One player goes out of the room. A dried bean is given to one of
the players to put in his or her shoe. Play some music and have
all the players dance, each child pretending to have a bean in
their shoe. The player that left the room comes back and tries to
guess who has the bean in their shoe. If they guess right, the
person with the bean in their shoe gets to guess next. If they
guess wrong, they get to leave the room again and try again. If
they guess wrong a second time, they get to choose who gets to
leave the room next.

Hot and Cold

Have the players hide an object while one player leaves the room.
When the object has been hidden, the player that left returns to
the room and guesses where the object has been hidden. This
player must move around one step at a time while the other
players call out "Warm!" or "Cold!" or "Colder!" or "Warmer!" or
"Boiling!" until the player finds the object. The closer they
get, the "warmer" they are. The further away they get, the
"colder" they are.

Lucky Number

Give each child five buttons. The players go from player to
player, exchanging buttons with each other. They can give away as
many or few as they want, but they cannot refuse buttons from
other players. After approximately 2 minutes the leader
calls "Stop!" The leader then calls out a "lucky number" between
one and twenty. Whoever has that number of buttons wins.

Cat and Rat

This game is best for 10 or more players. The players hold hands
in a circle. One player is the rat on the inside of the circle,
and one player is the cat on the outside of the circle. The cat
tries to break through the circle to get to the rat. The players
in the circle try to prevent the cat from getting to the rat.
When the cat succeeds in breaking through the circle, the players
the cat broke between are the next cat and rat.

Balloon Race

Give each child a self-addressed postcard. Have the children
dictate to an adult notes to write on their postcard that state
they are having a contest to see whose balloon travels the
farthest. Also ask that the location, date, and time that the
balloon is found be written on the postcard by the person who
finds the balloon and that the person drop the postcard in the
mail. Place the postcards in ziploc bags and attach them to the
balloons. Set a date for when the contest ends, and launch the
balloons!

Farm Animals

Secretly give the name of a farm animal to each player. The
leader yells "Go!" and each player acts out their animal at the
same time. At the end of 2 minutes, each player calls out as many
of the animal names as they can remember. The player
that remembers the most animal names correctly wins the game.

Dog Bone

All players are seated in a group. One player is selected to be
the dog. The dog sits with his back to the rest of the players. A
bone (eraser, ball, or some other object) is placed on the floor
behind the dog's back. One at a time, each player tries to sneak
up behind the dog and steal his bone. If the dog hears a sound
from the player trying to sneak up behind him, he "barks" and the
other player returns to their seat. If someone is successful in
stealing the bone, that player returns to their seat and hides
the bone. All of the players then say, "Dog, Dog, where's your
bone?" The dog has three chances to guess who stole his bone. The
person who stole the bone gets to be dog next.

Break the Balloon

Each child receives a balloon. The first child to blow up their
balloon and pop it wins (show the children how to tie the
balloons before the game begins).

Blind Man's Bluff

Choose one child to be blindfolded. Let the child wander around
the room until they touch another child. The blindfolded child
tries to guess who they have touched. If they are correct, the
other child gets to blindfolded next. If they are wrong, they get
to be blindfolded one more time. If they are wrong a second time,
they get to choose who gets to be blindfolded next.

Penny Dropping

Give each player 5 pennies. Place a jar on the floor behind a
chair. Have the players take turns kneeling on the chair and
trying to drop their pennies into the jar. Their hand should not
go lower than the top of the back of the chair. Whoever gets the
most pennies in the jar wins the game.

Christmas Party Ideas and Christmas Party Games

Christmas party games and Christmas party ideas are key to every grand Christmas celebration. Christmas party games provide fun activities for young and old alike to enjoy the holidays and the special time with family. Original Christmas party ideas guarantee lasting impressions on family and guests. But, this year, as Christmas party ideas are considered and Christmas party games are constructed, Christians might want to keep in mind who we celebrate and the reality of many of our Christmas traditions. Too often we accept tradition as truth and we find ourselves caught up in activities that have more to do with frantic goals and less to do with a Holy God. Click the link below to take a Christmas Quiz.

When putting Christmas party ideas into action and pulling together the Christmas party games, families could use the opportunity to teach of Christ, his birth, life and death on the cross. Planning a celebration with Christmas party ideas while working with children and other family members might be an opportune time to visit the truth about why we celebrate. There can be activities and Christmas party ideas that will bring glory to Christ, and there are creative ideas listed throughout the Internet and through church resources. But, a simple investigation of where many of the current Christmas traditions come from will reveal that many of the Christmas party games we play and Christmas party ideas we use have their origins in ancient pagan practices.

An eye-opening example is the tradition of decorating a tree. The Christmas tree, the very center of many Christmas party ideas, was actually a symbol of the resurrection of a pagan god. The Pagan sun worshippers would place a Yule log on their home fire to symbolize that their pagan god, Nimrod had died. This event took place when the days were shorter due to the winter sunlight. But, the very next day, the pagans would cut down an evergreen tree and erect it in their homes to symbolize the resurrection of Nimrod through his son, Tammuz. The green tree was a sign of life and it was decorated in red berries with small balls that represented the sun, all as a worshipful ceremony to a god that does not exist. "For the customs of the people are vain: for one cutteth a tree out of the forest, the work of the hands of the workman, with the axe. They deck it with silver and with gold; they fasten it with nails and with hammers that it move not." (Jeremiah 10:3-4) To explore more about the Lord's desire for your life, please take the Christmas Quiz.

There are many other Christmas traditions and Christmas party games and activities that come from origins that are older than Christ. If Christmas party ideas and Christmas party games are to be the center of celebrating Christ, then we must evaluate what we can do to keep Christ as the center of celebration. Understanding where the symbolism for much of our Christmas party ideas comes from will help us maintain the uniqueness of our Savior reigning King, Christ. Many fans will be celebrating with the usual tradition of having a Twilight party. If you are one of these fans one way to make your party more interesting is great Twilight party games.

As you think of interesting party games think of various things defining characteristics such as the abilities of the vampires and werewolves. A great game idea is to have a game that mimic the speed of a vampire. If you are wondering how you can possibly do that all you need is a dark night and flashlights. Play a game of flashlight tag with you and your guests. As you run around in the dark the blur of the lights in motion will make everyone look like they are moving much faster than they really are.

A great game to play is who said what. Read lines from New Moon the novel and have guests guess which character said the line. This is a great way for fans to show off their knowledge of the series. You can make it more interesting by offering special prizes such as New Moon merchandise. Also include bonus rounds with really challenging questions that will be a true test of fandom for your friends.

Vampires may only consume blood, but they also have a heightened sense of taste. This will make a great game idea. Choose different red foods and serve them on platters or bowls then have your friends try to guess each food by tastes. It may be a bit challenging to find red foods that can't be guessed by site, but there are things that you can do that might help. First is to look online for Twilight recipes. There are some great recipes for fake blood and red treats that you can use for the game that will make it that much more interesting.

Have a game of Red Light Green Light. Vampires are super aware of their surroundings using every one of their superhuman senses. In Red Light Green Light a person is chosen as the caller. If the callers says green light, then other players can move towards the caller. If the caller says red light everyone has to freeze in the position they were in when it was said. This mean if you were running and you were on one foot, you have to stay on that foot in running position. Of course if you move, you are out of the game. To make the game more interesting for the caller have him or her blindfolded so they can't rely on their sight. They will need to look to their other sense to know when other players are close.

Easy Toddler Birthday Party Games

Toddlers have notoriously short attention spans, but these toddler birthday party games are guaranteed to keep them interested!

Monkey See, Monkey Do

Toddlers love to move around, and this toddler party game will keep them hopping! Best of all, you'll love it just as much as they will - because there's no set up, this is a great way to fill time between activities and there's no mess afterwards!

To play, first choose a leader. An older child or an adult would be best; another toddler would be chaos! The leader begins with a single move that toddlers can easily copy - a hop, for example - which the kids then repeat. Next, the leader repeats the first action and adds a second. Hop, clap. Then hop, clap, stomp and hop, clap, stomp, clap. The kids should not begin to repeat the motions until the leader has finished the sequence, repeating previous movements in order and adding a new motion each time. The leader can also repeat movements, such as in the example clap, clap, jump.

This toddler party game continues as long as the kids can remember the movements, and it becomes increasingly difficult as the motions are added. When a child forgets which movement to do next, he or she is out. The last player standing wins, but the fun lies in the fact that the leader has to be able to remember all of the motions, too!

Why is this game so fabulous? Because not only will toddlers hone their memory skills, but the game will end naturally when they either grow tired of it or when it becomes too difficult for them. That said, don't be surprised to hear them beg for round two!

Off to the Races

The best toddler birthday party games are fun for all ages, and this one is no exception! Leave your guests in giggles and get parents and older siblings involved when you set up this activity that is easy to play both indoors and out!

To get started, you'll need a few sturdy cardboard boxes which are each large enough for one child to sit in. If you have a small guest list, provide a box for each child. For larger parties, plan to divide kids into teams; in either case, first offer kids the opportunity to decorate their boxes for a bonus activity that will easily fill party transition times.

When you're ready to start the game, designate start and finish lines and instruct your toddlers to climb into their race car boxes. Each child needs a "pit crew" member to help them win the race, and this is where the older siblings and parents get to play! On "go" the pit crew member pushes the box, toddler on board, to the finish line. The first one across wins! If you play with the kids in teams, set it up as a relay race with "pit stops" for the crews to change drivers.

Silly Obstacle Course

Kids shouldn't be expected to follow too many directions during toddler birthday party games, but they thrive on activity. This party game is perfect on both counts!

All you have to do to set it up is to create a few small obstacles in a path for kids to navigate. Indoors, pile up sofa cushions, create a wall of hanging streamers, or drape a sheet over a coffee table to make a tunnel. Outside, lay out a path with ropes, make a tunnel from cut cardboard boxes, or make a "forest" from bunches of Mylar balloons. Whatever the location or choice of obstacles, demonstrate each new activity to kids before they begin, and then turn them loose to have a great time!

Finally, have fun and be creative, then relax. These toddler birthday party games are sure to make your party an unforgettable one for even your youngest guests!

Grandparents Day Party Games - Fun For Young and Old

Having a grandparents day party, games and all, is a wonderful way for young classmates to introduce their grandparents to their friends and share a bit of their lives. Below are a couple of Grandparents day party games that the older and younger generation can enjoy together:

"Newspaper costume parade" Grandparents day party game

Each child and their grandparent receive a newspaper, a pair of scissors and a roll of sticky tape. In 15 minutes, each team's task is to create an outfit - consisting of 3 items eg hat/top/pants or hat/dress/over-shirt - for each member using only the newspaper, scissors and sticky tape. Afterwards, teams parade their creations and teachers can hand out a series of prizes for the neatest, messiest, or most creative outfit.

"He who laughs last" Grandparents day party game

This game is hilarious to watch, and even more fun to play. It's a real challenge, especially for people who can't keep a straight face. Players have to sit in a circle (on chairs if necessary), facing each other. The player who starts says "ha!", the next player in the circle says "ha ha!", the third player says "ha ha ha!" and so on around the circle. As soon as someone says the wrong number of "ha"s, or starts laughing, they have to leave the circle. Once a player leaves the circle, they have to try and make the rest of the players laugh or make a mistake. The person who makes a mistake or laughs last is the winner.

Superbowl Party Games of Activity and Fun

The following are two very interesting Superbowl Party Games with the kids during half time.

'Cross Questions and Crooked Answers' Superbowl Party Game

The cross questions and crooked answers game is a very different Superbowl party game that is played in whispers. The children sit in a circle and the first player whispers a question to his/her neighbor. This question now belongs to the second player and he/she must remember it. Let's assume that the question is "Do you like roses?" The second player answers the question and this answer belongs to the first player. Perhaps he/she has answered "Yes, they smell so sweetly". The second player turns to his/her neighbor and whispers a question, and keeps the answer in mind. Maybe the player has asked the neighbor "Are you fond of potatoes?" and the answered was "Yes, when they are fried!" The second player now has a question and an answer that belongs to him/her, which must be remembered till the end of the game.

The Superbowl party game continues until every player has asked a question and received an answer. Each player must remember the question he/she is asked, which will be his/her question, and the answer given by his/her neighbor, which will be his/her answer. After everyone gets their 'cross' question and 'crooked' answer, then each player tells his/her question and answer aloud in the following manner: " I was asked: 'Do you like roses?' and the answer was: 'Yes, when they are fried!'" The next player follows with his/her question and answer and says "I was asked: 'Are you fond of potatoes?' and the answer was 'Yes, they are very pretty, but they don't wear well".

French Roll Superbowl Party Game

A large number of children can play the French Roll Superbowl party game. One of the children becomes the 'buyer' and the rest of them form a line in front of 'the buyer' and take hold of each other. The first player in the line is called the 'baker' and the last the 'French roll'. The children in between are collectively called the 'oven'. Once everyone is in position, the buyer says to the baker, "Give me my French roll". The baker replies, "It is at the back of the oven". When the buyer goes to fetch it, the 'French roll' starts to run from the back of the oven to the baker, calling all the while, "Who runs? Who runs?" The buyer should try to catch the 'French roll' before the player acting as the 'French roll' reaches the top of the line. Once the 'French roll' reaches the beginning of the line, he/she becomes the 'baker' and the last player in the line becomes the 'French roll'. On the other hand, if the 'buyer' catches the 'French roll', then the 'French roll' becomes the 'buyer' and the 'buyer' goes to the beginning of the line to become the 'baker'.

5 Preschool Party Games Treasured By Children Of All Time

Arranging preschool party games might be a head-ache when there are quite a few items to take care of for this type of social gathering among young children.

As someone who have organized parties for years, I hope the following recommendations can present you with old and new ideas for the hassle-free and fun-filled activities for your little one's celebration.

(A) Pin The Tail

This is a really classic, time-tested party game loved by children across the nation.

The organizer will need to prepare a large image of a donkey, sticky tag or double-sized tape, a donkey tail drawn out of large craft paper or newspaper, and a piece of cloth to blindfold the kid.

Before the activity:

Get a large piece of craft paper (or adhere many pieces of paper / newspaper together) and draw a donkey.
Draw a tail on a separate sheet and cut it out. Make a tail for every single participant.
Put a double-sided tape on the tip of each and every donkey tail.

Rules of the game:

Pick a child (generally the birthday kid) and blindfold him/her. Ask him/her to stick the tail to the appropriate place of the donkey.
Each child then takes turns, hold the tail and attempt to stick to the appropriate location.
At the end, the one child who sticks the tail to the best position where it is supposed to be is the winner.

Tips for the organizers:

Customize your pin the tail activity with your party theme! You don't really need lots of time for this DIY activity, as nowadays you can simply download images from the Internet for this game. Otherwise, ready-made party kit are available for popular themes such as Mickey Mouse and Blue's Clues.

(B) Pass The Parcel

You'll need a CD, a Stereo, one (or more) small gifts and several large pieces of paper. Gift wraps or newspaper will work fine.

Wrap up the gift item (the "parcel") with many layers of paper
Ask the youngsters to sit down in a circle
Start the songs and ask children pass round the parcel
Once the song stops, the kid holding the item will need to unwrap one piece of paper.
Start the music and the passing of the parcel
Repeat the passing and unwrapping until the kid unwraps the final layer of paper and the gift is revealed. The lucky kid can then keep this treasured content of the parcel!

For extra fun, you can insert small gift items such as stationery in each and every layer of the parcel so no one is being left out. You can also prepare several pieces of parcels in case the kids want to play the game again.

(C) Duck Duck Goose

This is another time-proven party game that is loved by preschool children. The kids are probably quite familiar with the rules, but let me list it out for your easy reference.

Ask the youngsters to sit in a circle. Decide on a kid (generally the birthday kid) to be the "duck".
The duck will then lightly tap the children randomly. If s/he says duck, then absolutely nothing occurs; but if s/he says goose (typically quite loud), then the "goosed" kid has got to chase the duck.
If the goose fails to catch the duck, then s/he gets to stay as the "duck" in the following round.
If the goose manages to catch the duck, then the duck has to sit down inside the "soup bowl", i.e. the middle in the circle until finally one more duck is caught in later rounds.

Tips for the organizers:

Please remind the children to tap lightly on the other young children. Really do not hit!
get something that is reasonably firm but soft, e.g. a balloon stick, for the tapping
Be considerate if your "caught duck" refuses to sit down inside soup (some young children may well finds this very embarrassing). One option is to encourage the kid decide on other "penalties" (but really do not call it penalty - call it a little performance or something positive) by singing a tune or by undertaking a funny act.

(D) Musical Chair

What is required: songs in CD and chairs

Rules of the game:

Set up the chairs in two rows, preferably back to back. Make sure the number of chairs equal to number of participants minus one.
Call the children to join the game and ask them to walk round the chair once the song begins.
When the song stops, all people needs to get a seat. The one participant who fails will be out for this round of the game.
Take away one chair and repeat the above, until there are two participants left with one and only one chair.
The one who manages to sit on the chair (instead of the lap of the other person) wins!

For a safe and fun activity, make sure the chairs are of appropriate height and sturdy enough for the children. Also, for very young children, it is better if one of the parents can participate with the child. There should also be constant reminder that walking, and not running, is the rule of the game.

(E) Birthday Hat Contest

Would you like to have something arty and fun for the children? This is also a great alternative for the "active" activities described above.

What you need: craft paper, coloring products (coloring pens, markers, glitter glue), arts and craft materials (e.g. aluminum foil, feather, scrapbook stuff), scissors and glue.

It is possible to either create a pre-cut form of the birthday hat or let the children do it themselves. The decision should largely depend on their age.
Ask them to decorate in any way they like - the sillier the merrier!

For create more excitement out of this activity, you can hold a Hat Contest and give out prizes to the winners. For children of this age group, it is important to prepare more than 1 prize, such as the silliest, most creative, most colorful, tallest, widest... so every child will go home happy and proud of their creation.

Afterall, a party is meant to be a celebration of friendship, so it's important to make everyone happy. Enjoy the party planning and the success that comes with it!

George: You can be a real person, a family member, someone in the room, or a television personality (egBush and Big Bird, etc. times), then what he wrote, so no one can see, and pass the paper to the person to their right. The next person adds the name of a female (ie, Minnie Mouse, Elizabeth Taylor, her mother, grandmother) and bend over, transfer the person to their right. The next person writes, "where they were" (example: McDonalds, at sea, etc.) is given back, and the next person writes, "what they were doing" (Example: apples, flying airplanes, paperetc..) Then the next person writes a question of how young girls ask, "Why are you so beautiful," or "Do you like homemade pickles?" It can be anything. The more random the better. This time I passed the papers, said the person, the question of who is told to give the first word of the matter. This helps ensure that the person knows how to react. It is not very funny when someone asks, "Do you love me" And the other replied, "Because I like chocolate chip. Cookies "So if the question starts with" someone ...", you can write in response. "Only when the moon is full and I am washing socks" After this go back, and the next person writes "what Both the men who ended up doing (for example: "They walked on the moon on Santa's sleigh.") was completed after the story is all for the last time, and then the stories are opened and read at a with time. our example would be to read the story: "Big Bird and Minnie Mouse at McDonaldsApple tree. Big Bird said, "Do you like homemade pickles?" Minnie said: "Only when the moon is full and I am washing socks, landed on the moon on Santa's sleigh .."
